One of the biggest inspiration and source of research for my work is nature. I enjoy observing how the sun interacts with elements in nature, and the variety of composition it can create depending on the time of day (angle) and its intensity. I chose this image because I believe even a simple photo such as this has so much depth and richness in itself. The shadows on the leaves caused by the sunlight that is backlighting certain leaves emphasize depth through creation of texture onto other leaves. As well, the bright sunlight acts both as a focal point as well as a directional line to the composition, allowing our eyes to explore through the composition and examine the contrast it creates on the foreground and middle ground.
